This is by no means as sturdy as a Metro brand wire rack, however, it gets the job done. When the box arrived, I counted all of the pieces (all there) and started assembling the shelf. Two of the pole segments were dented just enough to make screwing the connectors in impossible. I was able to straighten them out with a pair of pliers and all was well again. For what I was doing, I had every intention of only using four shelves since I had my filing cabinet on the bottom. I had to finangle the setup a little bit to get it to work for me, but in doing so, I realized that the clips that hold the shelf up weren't staying put on one of the poles. I got it to work since none of the shelves are holding an extreme amount of weight. It's a good height standing at 59" and fits in the space exactly how I intended it to and fit everything that I needed to on the shelves. For what it costs, it's a decent shelf that should last me quite a while. Im the type that can get IKEA furniture to last years (I'm working on my fourth? fifth? year on my bookshelf and tv stand including two moves in those years). Needless to say, I have a feeling this shelf will stick around awhile. I would say as long as you don't put anything super heavy on it (it says 50lbs, but I question that) you should be ok. The finish is great, matches everything else in the apartment that I have.
